Happy February! As we go through the month of February, we recognize and celebrate the importance of Black History Month. In Social Studies, as always, we will be looking at the role that African Americans played in the success of the United States, and celebrating those individuals that helped promote equality.
Week of 2/8:
1. Report Cards will be electronically distributed on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 on TADS Educate.
2. We will be having Parent-Teacher Conferences with parents from our 6-8 classes on Wednesday, February 10 and Thursday, February 11. Please check your emails to sign up for a conference slot.
3. This week, we will be covering these very exciting topics in Social Studies:
6th Grade- Judaism and the legacy of the Jewish faith
7th Grade- The Declaration of the Indpendence and the continuation of the American Revolution
8th Grade- The presidency of Theodore Roosevelt and its impact
4. "COVID Caveat": We have never done this before. This is a year when people have to figure out how to be students, teachers, parents, children, employees, employers, friends, colleagues, and just human beings in the midst of a global pandemic.
We are going to get some things wrong. As we see what the months ahead have in store for our city, country, and world, some of our expectations may change.
We will work together to get you what you need to learn in this class, while being aware of the immense uncertainty that surrounds all “planning” at this point.
I also hope we work together to build community—to serve as a space for exchanging information, asking important questions, changing our minds, and supporting and advocating for one another.
I am committed to working with each of you, and all of you, to create the conditions in which you feel supported in doing the assignments.
As issues arise that impact your learning, please let me know, and let’s find solutions together.
As always, if you need to reach me with any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to email me at mpeters@sfxschool.net
